Sam Dunn is a freelance Illustrator based in London. She grew up in Hartlepool, a fading seaside town in the far North East of England and spent her weekends exploring the dense forests of the Lake District National Park.  Her work is delicately crafted by hand with pen and ink then coloured digitally with many layers of found and forged textures, aiming to preserve the warm and tangible appearance of traditional media. When she isn’t drawing, Sam enjoys riding her bike, drumming and adding to her unnecessary collection of baseball caps.

The Nature of Art

Sila is a motion graphic designer and illustrator based in Istanbul, Turkey. Her work is a culmination of her love for travelling, passion for art and awe at the power of nature.

About her #25colorado design
‘When I was thinking about the brand values (Tough, Bold, Dedicated, Authentic, Dynamic) two concepts crossed my mind immediately: Modern art movements and nature. For me, 20th century’s art is the definition of courage and authenticity. There are so many artists who created the unimaginable and changed the course of history of art. Piet Mondrian and De Stijl, Picasso and Cubism, Roy Lichtenstein and Pop-Art, Kazimir Malevich, Joan Miro, Wassily Kandinsky,… are just a few of these bold and dedicated men and women. I’ve always admired their work and modern art has been a source of inspiration for me since I was a little child. But then what is stronger than nature? Human race might be trying everything to destroy it but nature always comes back. Nature always wins. Like it does in abandoned buildings and places where human race failed. So here is my design: A pair of the classic Colorado turned into a wild canvas as a tribute to ever inspiring artists and nature.’

Find What You Love and Let It Kill You

Tamara Alves (b. 1983) is a Portuguese artist, native from the Algarve and currently based in Lisbon. Inspired by urban life she makes use of supports with multifaceted characteristics – from painting to illustration, from installation to urban art.
Tamara is fascinated by “contextual” art, which is inserted in the world, ignoring conventional places such as museums or galleries, in order to present her works of art in the street or in public spaces.
The work of Tamara Alves represents an erotic view of a contemporary body with the effects of its own limits expanded. Instead of a rational thinking there’s a rough passion, a body-without-organs, a becoming animal, the experienced sensations, “starving histerical naked” (Allen Ginsberg).
Since 2000 that she has been a part of several projects, group and solo exhibitions and street art interventions.

About her #25colorado design: ‘find what you love and let it kill you’
‘Inspired by something visceral, bold that would want me to feel powerful, passionate and immortal.’

Big City, Bright Lights

Dhiantha is a 23-year-old Masters in Architecture student at UKZN, Durban, South Africa. She has always been artistic and from a very young age has been developing her skills and nurturing her passion for the arts. While architecture is a more practical use of art, she uses painting and sketching as a purely creative outlet for herself, which is how she started her small business LACED. LACED has grown from strength to strength in a short period of time and Dhiantha is loving every minute of its journey and is excited to take on what the future holds for her creativity.

About her #25colorado design inspiration: The city itself is a work of art, but so are the people in it. Street art is an integral part of the city and the walls of the concrete jungle are canvases for the expression of the energy and vitality of the people who make it the buzzing metropolis it is.

Born in the city of Kaluga, Ponomarev began painting at the tender age of five. A year later, the infant reproduced Da Vinci’s ‘Last Supper’ and thus his artistic journey began to take definitive shape.

The young artist progressed from painting on walls at his home to entering numerous municipal art competitions based on the theme of space and aviation, inspired by Kaluga’s most venerated resident, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. As time went on, self-taught Ponomarev sharpened his skills proving to be a versatile artist who could with equal technical proficiency and panache reproduce works of a Great Master and similarly create graffiti masterpieces, the latter leading to the artist winning first place in regional competitions.

Ponomarev’s first commissioning was an advertising campaign for a leading mobile operator in Russia. Encouraged and growing confident with an inherent determination to support his young family, Ponomarev sought to experiment with different mediums to further enrich his work.

Fire and Ice

Nikos “FL1P” Panagiotarakos was born and raised in Athens, Greece.

He studied Advertising and International Business Communications in the UK. Today, he is a coffee shop owner by day and a graffiti street artist by night.

He is always trying to transform the “grey” city scene into something more joyful. Colorful fire hoses, painted traffic lights, stencils and murals can be found throughout the city of Athens.

When he is not holding a spray can in his hand he is either scuba diving in Kea island or playing basketball with his “noisy” friends.

About his #25colorado design:
The “Fire and Ice” camouflage was inspired by the all-terrain character of the Colorado boots pointing to the fact that they were made to dynamically lead the way in nature’s toughest challenges…. through thunders and rain… through deserts or lakes.

Lifestyle Juggler

Anton Unai is a Berlin-based artist who has specialized in making abandoned refuse into artistic treasures. His oeuvre is a dynamic mixture of materials, methods, concepts, and subjects that defies easy definition. Anton Unai personifies the creative philosophy represented by Joseph Beuys’ legacy: a profound belief in the sanctity of spontaneity, the poetry of chaos, and the rejection of traditional academia. A self-taught artist, Unai’s installations are often the result of a week-long process or action, improvised and created on-site using mostly found objects, or “golden garbage,” salvaged from the streets of Berlin.

Using materials that reflect the urban landscape, ordinary detritus like rusty sheet metal or yesterday’s newspaper, Unai’s work resurrects and reinvents the discarded relics of the modern masses. His art is at once rough and delicate, exposing sentimental and vulnerable humanity through violent gestures, provocative irony and messy compositions.

“If you love something – set it free, if it loves you – it will come back to you,
if it doesn’t – hunt it down and kill it.” – Anton Unai

Urban Glitter

I’m a self-taught artist by nature. At 6 I improved myself by copying out portraits during 8 years like a faker. I would like to find my own style, I got away from portraits and paper to concentrate on a other material: the glass. I have developed a technique more spontaneous, including collage, various textures, figurative drawing and abstract giving rise to an exhibit (Gallery AURORA), auctions (SATURO SATO (Japan), HOTEL DROUT)…
Little by little, I put aside this art for another one: the music. Presently, I study an Audio Engineer formation while continuing to paint and draw. Convinced that the music and the image are connected and can’t be separated, I work on a project mixing my qualities in drawing and paint with music and video.

#25Colorado design inspiration:
The pair of Colorado boots I designed represents the urban shoe, robust and versatile.
The idea of contrast was the principal reflection of my work.
The iron thread “imprisons” the pair of shoes to remind they always have this urban and robust side.
The material of iron reminisce work material and therefore gives the composition an industrial spirit.
On the other side, sequins complete and cover fully the boots giving them a softer character, more modern and female, and offer a different view of the Colorado silhouette.

Peoria Colorado

Benjamin Van Blancke is a graphic artist and illustrator with a diploma from the School of technical Arts in Berlin.
Benjamin has a deep passion for the world of image, architecture and history, and this is the source for much of his inspiration. He transports these elements into his essentially monochrome illustrations where each detail has a particular importance and the results are delicate works mixed with poetry, history and modernity.

Inspiration for his design :
“The Peoria Colorado shoes are a tribute to the very beginning of the brand Caterpillar and its history. Several spots on the shoes feature various points of view of the city of Peoria, where Carterpillar was founded (skylines, town hall, houses, and the very first Caterpillar factory). On each shoe, I drew a portrait of each founder of the brand. Some pretty massive rocks start from the back and fade along the shoes, on their sides. As a reference to the American roots of the brand, I added an eagle and the statue of liberty. Several construction vehicles have also been added to recall the essence of the brand ; originally being a construction equipment. »

Gregory Morfi was born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1984. He followed his dream and studied fashion design in Athens, at AKTO, Middlesex University of London, while he was working as a stylist next to well-known designers in Athens. In 2009 he opened his own boutique selling haute couture dress as well as bridal gowns.

Modern, sexy and independent women are his inspiration and he is trying to show this through his collections by using fabrics such as silk, lace, chiffon and sequins.

Someone might characterise him as an eccentric, philanthropist and passionate fashion designer, who has a lot more to show, since as he states, he never stops dreaming.

Hugo Tanghe, born in Halle (Belgium) on February 13, 1963 attended life class model

drawing and art painting classes at the Anderlecht academy in the early nineties.

After this training he drew models in the ‘Las Meninas’ studio in Brussels for two years.

Hugo Tanghe is an artistic all-rounder who draws models, paints, is a strip cartoonist and creates digital works of art. Colour and atmosphere both play a major role in his works. He deliberately doesn’t choose to pin himself down to one style and compares his art to a playground. A sense of childlike freedom equals boundlessness with joie de vivre.
